More info

beautiful example of a French aviation pilot's helmet from the 2nd World War.

Manufacturer GUENEAU, type Airaile 11, size 58. The original label located at the bottom of the bomb clearly indicates the manufacturer, model, market number (560/8), order number (885) as well as the date of manufacture (September 1938).

All the snap buttons are present. Leather loops for holding glasses. Drawstring on the back. Interior cover in dark brown leather, original lace. Helmet worn and in very good condition.

It is completely normal for the leather to be cut manually at the level of the headphones, here it is in a cross, on others the cut was done in a circle, it was the pilot's choice. The flaps (leather flaps on the headphones) have also been cut out, a common practice at the time on this helmet. These small details allow us to confirm that this helmet was indeed used during WW2, it is not a helmet from unused stock.

Good helmet of a French aviation pilot, witness object of the Battle of France 1939/40. Just needs a little polishing to restore its shine.
