JAPAN PILOT'S LEATHER FLIGHT HELMET

Complete and beautiful Japanese leather pilot helmet, WW2 period.
This flight helmet has never been used, it is 'new from stock'. it's just faded from all its years of storage.

summer version with an inner lining in green canvas. ideogram markings. these helmets were produced and used from the early 1930s until 1945.

on this model the star has been unstitched. the reasons as well as the origin of the helmet are known: many Japanese WW2 materials were stored on an air base located in Indochina. at the end of the war, this base was abandoned and then taken over by the French army. just as it was necessary to denazify German equipment by removing the swastikas, the French army removed the Japanese star.
